Firefox on OS X is awful

Gawd, its handling of italics sucks. I can’t even read Wikipedia without being distracted by the ugly italics that run onto adjacent words.

Jeffrey Zeldman has noticed it, but his screenshots aren’t illustrative enough…

Update[2008-04-29]: The situation in Firefox 3 has improved. For a while, italics were *gone* entirely (Bug 364713), but now it’s been fixed, and everything looks good. Firefox 3 is so much better than 2 in every way!

  1. With the release of Firefox 3.5, I can safely say now that it is MUCH MUCH better than Safari 3.x or 4.x. I haven’t been using Firefox for a number of reasons including poor integration, weird page rendering, and jerky Windows-like scrolling. These problems have all been fixed in the Mac OS X version and you should definitely give FF another go.
